What is HMI PLC?HMI and PLC are two important components in industrial automation.Programmable Logic Controller(PLC)manages and controls machines, and Human Machine Interface(HMI)enables operators to interact with machines and control systems, complementing each other in industrial automation.Unimat has now launched an all-in-one machine that integrates PLC and HMI in order to simplify the needs of customers.
What is HMI?
HMI stands for Human Machine Interface. It is a device that allows you to see what is happening inside the PLC through a graphical representation.
In simple terms, let's expand the example we have seen in PLC further. We know that the logic is handled inside the PLC.However,we want to see the exact status of the inputs and outputs. We want to see if the inputs are pressed;we want to see if the outputs are turned on.
So to see the current status of the graphics and logic,HMI is required. In HMI,you can design screens to show the status of buttons and motors. In this way,you can see the entire process properly. This is the purpose of HMI.
HMI is a device that shows us the final system by displaying IO,settings, and other processes according to the PLC logic. So,HMI is basically a graphical system. You need to understand symbols, color combinations, icons, and graphical arrangements to use it properly.
What is PLC?
PLC is the abbreviation of Programmable Logic Controller. It is a device that can write program logic and configure inputs and outputs.
Simply put, consider the flow of input, logic, and output. The input is a button and the output is a motor. When you press the input, the hardware voltage will be converted into digital bits in the PLC.Write a logic in the PLC that will turn on the output when the input is received.
So,based on the button input received, the processor of the PLC will turn on the output. The digital bit output will be converted into hardware voltage. This voltage will then turn on the motor. This is the PLC.
PLC is a device that connects IO and various networks, processes logic according to the logic, and controls the final system. So,PLC is basically a combination of hardware and software. You need to understand both terms to use them properly.
Difference between PLC and HMI
1.In PLC,you have to write the logic, while in HMI,you have to design a view of the logic.
2.You can change and monitor parameters in HMI,while in PLC,you have to configure parameters to process the program accordingly.
3.In HMI,you can define and use audit trails, reports, trends, printing and other advanced tools;while in PLC,you can define and use libraries, hardware configuration, network configuration and other advanced tools.
4.Simply put,PLC is the brain and HMI is the eyes.
Basically,by understanding this, you must have roughly understood the obvious differences and roles of the two.PLC is the logical part, while HMI is the graphical part!
The above is a simple overview of what is hmi plc.Now the industrial automation is developing rapidly, and manufacturers are also developing new products in order to further facilitate customer needs.Unimat's newly launched all-in-one machine is a combination of PLC and HMI,which is powerful and easy to use.Unimat has been rooted in the automation industry for 20 years and is a well-known automation manufacturer in China. If you have any needs for PLC/HMI and industrial all-in-one machines, please contact us through office@unimatautomation.com.
